2007 Work Programme

Partnership for Progress - ‘Promoting a constructive dialogue between science and society’

The EPDA achieves its success through combining the strengths and experiences of its partners. It has provided an important forum to work in collaboration with European organisations, both patient and neurological, the European Commission, the World Health Organisation, the World Federation of Neurology, and the pharmaceutical industry. This partnership has enabled the development of research projects into quality of life issues, and conferences for multidisciplinary teams and people with Parkinson's of any age.

The EPDA depends on the support of external organisations and companies for funding.

Coping Strategies – Tips and Tricks

Available via website and DVD

A new website and DVD are in the process of being developed to share coping strategies or Tips & Tricks that have been created by people with PD to assist them in their daily lives. The site will contain coping strategies on several aspects of living with PD including speech and swallowing, occupational therapy etc.

The Physiotherapy section has begun and is available on the EPDA website (www.epda.eu.com/pwp/copingStrategies). The site contains short films and people with PD’s comments. The images address tremor and wearing off periods and how people address them in their daily lives. The data collected will identify problems and solutions; enabling the sharing of information with people with PD, their families and healthcare professionals and inspiring further research.

Data has been collected from Ireland, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Japan and South Africa. Additional data will be collected from Italy in 2007.
