Apple is working closely with the FDA to develop an FDA-regulated app for diagnosing Parkinson's disease, MobiHealthNews has learned. The insight comes from a batch of emails MobiHealthNews obtained from a Freedom of Information Act request to the FDA.

BIAL launches ONGENTYS (opicapone) a novel treatment for Parkinson´s disease patients with motor fluctuations in the UK
ONGENTYS (opicapone) was authorised by the European Commission in June 2016 as an adjunctive therapy to preparations of levodopa/DOPA decarboxylase inhibitors (DDCIs) in adult patients with Parkinson's disease and end-of-dose motor fluctuations who cannot be stabilised on those combinations.

Asceneuron receives grant from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research
Asceneuron SA, an emerging leader in the development of innovative small molecules for neurodegenerative diseases, today announced it has been awarded a research grant from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) for the further development of positive allosteric modulators of the M1 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (M1 PAMs). M1 PAMs induce a change in the shape of the receptor, enhancing binding to the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
