Complaints about impairments in executive functions in Parkinson's disease: The association with neuropsychological assessment
PD patients were aware of problems with executive functions in daily life and reported considerably more problems than healthy controls. These problems were however not reflected by neuropsychological tests and may indicate a lack of ecological validity of neuropsychological assessment.

Appreciation of humor is decreased among patients with Parkinson's disease
Conclusions: Patients with PD have a decreased sense of humor compared to healthy controls. Utilizing audio methods of presentation and humor in an obvious mode appears to be the preferred approach for eliciting responses to humor in a PD population.

Nonmotor manifestations of Parkinson's disease
In addition, a number of nonmotor manifestations can precede the onset of motor symptoms in PD and can be used as screening tools allowing for early disease identification and for trials of possible disease-modifying interventions. This article reviews depression, sleep, and autonomic dysfunction in PD.

Prevalence of pain in Parkinson's: A systematic review using the modified QUADAS tool
Surprisingly, only 52.4% of PD patients with pain used analgesics, most often nonopioids. PD patients seem to be predisposed to develop pain and physicians should be aware of pain as a common feature of PD.

Relationships between disability, quality of life and prevalence of nonmotor symptoms in Parkinson's disease
Disability and quality of life assessment tools measure psychosocial facets that are similar specifically with regard to physical health component of health-related quality of life, are sensitive enough to capture differences related to disease's progression and increased prevalence of NMS.

Lack of information and access to advanced treatment for Parkinson's disease patients
Doctors only provided a small proportion of patients with advanced therapy information, despite patients' interest. Hence, improvement is warranted regarding doctor appointments, information about various advanced treatment options, and their availability.

Physical inactivity in Parkinson's disease
The study quantified daily physical activities in a large cohort of PD patients and another large cohort of matched controls. Moreover, it investigated the influence of disease-related factors on daily physical activities in PD patients.

Impact of Anxiety on Quality of Life in Parkinson's Disease
Stepwise regression analyses revealed that anxiety explained 29% of the variance in the PDQ-39 sum score, and depression explained 10% of the variance beyond that accounted for by anxiety. The findings suggest that primary management of anxiety as well as depression may be important to optimizing the quality of life of PD patients.

Changes in quality of life, burden and mood among spouses of Parkinson's disease patients receiving neurostimulation
The spouses' mean mood and quality of life scores changed little, while burden improved in younger spouses. There was no significant change in the spouses' overall status. However, at the individual level the effect of surgery was more frequently negative than positive.

Depression and care-dependency in Parkinson's disease: Results from a nationwide study of 1449 outpatients
Older age, longer duration and increased severity of PD contribute to care-dependency in patients with untreated depression. Treatment of depression is associated with lower rates of care-dependency.
