Back to top Video

This site contains a number of video presentations available in 2 formats.

In order to view these files you must have the appropriate video software installed on your computer.

PLEASE NOTE THAT VIDEO FILE SIZES CAN BE VERY LARGE AND MAY TAKE A CONSIDERABLE TIME TO DOWNLOAD DEPENDING UPON YOUR CONNECTION SPEED.

Whilst the file is being downloaded, the screen may appear to be doing nothing or appear blank. PLEASE BE PATIENT.

YOUR COMPUTER MAY ATTEMPT TO PLAY THESE FILES AS THEY ARE DOWNLOADING OR BEFORE THE ENTIRE VIDEO HAS BEEN DOWNLOADED. THIS MAY CAUSE THE PLAYBACK TO STUTTER (STOP AND START). This is normal. The stuttering is caused by the application playing the 'chunks' of data as they are downloaded from the Internet, then stopping as it waits for the next chunk of video data to download. The faster your Internet connection speed, the less obvious this stop and start phenomenon. You may if you wish wait until the entire video data file has been downloaded before you play the entire sequence.

It is recommended that you install quicktime on your computer if it has not already been installed. This is because the compression technology, smaller file sizes and better quality image provide for a better user experience. PLEASE NOTE THAT INSTALLING ANY SOFTWARE IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE EPDA AND THE WEB SITE ACCEPT NO REPSONSIBILTY FOR ANY DECISIONS YOU MAKE REGARDING YOUR COMPUTING SYSTEM. Please refer to the site Terms Of Use for our site terms and disclaimers.

QuickTimeThe QuickTime format is a standard created and developed by Apple Computers for integrating full-motion video and digitised sound.

Videos stored in the QuickTime format have the extension .mov

Although the format was originally developed for the Macintosh platform, the abundance of high-quality QuickTime movies has made it popular with PC users. However, in order for the video to be played on a Windows computer, QuickTime Player must be installed. This is a free application available through the Apple Computers web site.

You should install the latest version of Quicktime available for your operating system to view the Quicktime movies on this site. If the latest version is not available on your computer platform, you should consider running the video file using one of the alternative formats available instead of Quicktime.

Depending upon your Internet browser version, when you click on any of the QuickTime movies on this site, the site will automatically determine whether you have the appropriate application and 'plug-ins' installed and provide you with the option of installing Quicktime if necessary.

Video file sizes are generally very large. Therefore downloading a video presentation for viewing can take some time on a slow Internet connection.

AVIThe AVI format is supported by all computers running Windows, and by all the most popular web browsers. It is a very common format on the Internet, but not always possible to play on non-Windows computers.

Videos stored in the AVI format have the extension .avi.

AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is a format developed by Microsoft for its Windows platform (hence its other name - Video for Windows).

An AVI file plays on a PC via an application such as Windows Media Player. For more information and to download this free player, visit the Microsoft site www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download.

Although AVI can be played on other platforms, it is generally perceived as a Windows-only format - and a proprietary Microsoft one at that. AVI is of relatively low quality (when compared to QuickTime and MPEG-1, for example) with a limiting frame rate and mono sound.
