Our partners

Our funding partners

The following funding partners are companies and organisations of high standing and reputation, all of whom agree with the EPDA’s overall strategic direction and help support the integrity of our organisation. Our partnerships with these companies are established on shared interest, transparency, trust and mutual benefit, and do not imply the EPDA’s endorsement of any corporation (or their products or services).

Code of practice for funding partners

The EPDA has developed its own code of practice to maintain its independence and transparency. Specifically, the EPDA has a code with regards to its:

Relationship with industrial and other potential partners

  • Relationships between the EPDA and its industrial (and any other) partners are based on equal partnership. Both sides will work together on policy development and practical initiatives in the interests of all EPDA member organisations and the EPDA's overall strategic direction
  • Successful partnerships are those where both partners gain by making the effort to understand the internal culture and external pressures of the other.

Funding

  • Funding will be declined if its application compromises the EPDA’s independence in any way
  • As an independent organisation, the EPDA relies on no conflict of interest, and insists on total transparency with the funder as well as the exchange of agreed and signed contracts
  • The EPDA favours the use of funding consortia of two or more companies to meet its strategic direction
  • Details of the EPDA’s funding are included here and within its Financial reports
  • The EPDA requires its funders to adhere to relevant company, national and international codes of conduct, including notifying their support for the EPDA on their websites.

Product endorsement

  • The EPDA’s name must not be used to imply approval or endorsement of any of the funders’ products
  • The EPDA encourages research into new treatments and the better application of existing therapies. It does not endorse the use of individual treatments over others
  • The EPDA supports the proper licensing of medicines.

Note: In addition to the EPDA’s own code of practice, the EPDA is also guided by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) codes of practice. For further information on these two codes, visit EMA and EFPIA.

Becoming a funding partner

There are a number of options available for external organisations and individuals to become a committed EPDA funding partner.

Why become an EPDA partner?

By becoming an EPDA partner, your company will:

  • help enable the EPDA to carry out its strategic goals on behalf of people with Parkinson’s and their families
  • engage with a long-standing, highly reputable and well-respected not-for-profit organisation (the EPDA)
  • enhance your company’s visibility at a European – and also national – level
  • demonstrate your company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility
  • help the fight against the effects of Parkinson’s disease, which have an impact across nearly every cultural, social and economic boundary.

For more specific information about how your funding will help people with Parkinson's, please download the EPDA brochure.

The 2020 partnership options

There are three main tiers to choose from when considering becoming an EPDA funding partner: Diamond, Gold or Silver. Potential partners are able to choose the amount they pay each year within each tier. Without your generous help, the EPDA would not exist, so we thank you very much for considering to help us.

Unless agreed otherwise, a partnership agreement with the EPDA normally covers the period from 1 January to 31 December of each year.

Regardless of the tier you choose, your funding will be split in the following ways:

  • €10,000 goes towards supporting the EPDA’s ongoing running costs
  • €10,000 guarantees a host of exclusive ‘retainer benefits’ (see table below)
  • Any additional funds go towards supporting existing EPDA activities, or creating bespoke EPDA-partner projects.

Creating bespoke EPDA-partnered projects – these opportunities will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

More specifically, the EPDA and our individual partners will take time to understand each others' objectives and priorities – and, together, will determine what sorts of projects should be developed in partnership that will help support the European Parkinson's community.

This benefit is only available to gold and diamond partners – and depends on what budget is available within the partnership agreement.

Note on Diamond Partners

We currently have four Diamond Partners: AbbVie, BIAL, Boston Scientific and Sunovion. Diamond partner companies have been extremely supportive to us for many years and recognise the benefits of working closely with the only European Parkinson’s umbrella organisation.

We thank these companies for their generous support over the years, and invite others to become diamond partners so that we can do even more valuable work on behalf of the Parkinson’s community.

Explanation of Treatment Industry Group Meeting

Since the EPDA’s formation in 1992, we have worked successfully in partnership with the treatment industry. Without this support, we would simply not exist – and therefore not be in a position to carry out the majority of our work programme.

To develop our partnerships further, we launched the Treatment Industry Group Meeting forum in 2009. All EPDA funding partners are invited to these collaborative roundtable meetings (usually two per year), which have developed into a valuable and trusted way of working and have led to greater awareness and understanding for all concerned.

The exclusive Treatment Industry Group Meetings are among the most important dates in our calendar, and they ensure that all EPDA funding partners work together effectively towards our common goal. For more information about these meetings, please contact info@epda.eu.com.

Other opportunities for collaboration

The EPDA will happily discuss other projects and activities not mentioned above (i.e., for those companies not able to invest €20,000). Please contact info@epda.eu.com for more information.

Technology partnership

As times change, the EPDA is eager to look at new types of partnerships with new types of companies – particularly those that develop new ways to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s through the use of technology. The EPDA understands that one of the challenges technology companies and start-ups can face is reaching out to – and directly communicating with – the Parkinson's community. We are also aware about the importance of having insight and input at an early stage from people living with Parkinson’s to help shape and test new technologies.

The option for technology partnerships with the EPDA starts at €8,500 per year, covering the period from 1 January to 31 December (unless agreed otherwise). This will allow the company access to the following benefits:

  • acknowledgment of your sponsorship within the EPDA annual report and other relevant websites, publications and materials
  • your company name and link appearing on the partners section of the EPDA website
  • invitation to the EPDA’s annual Members' Meeting
  • one free Parkinson’s Life company sponsored article
  • sponsorship of one Parkinson’s Life podcast
  • ‘early bird special offer’ until June 2020: one free advert for two weeks in Parkinson’s Life.

Moreover, further opportunities can be discussed. If your company is interested in this possibility, please contact info@epda.eu.com for more information.
